Assessment
Assessing student learning is at the heart of accountability in education policy. The enactment of the No Child Left Behind Act in 2002 enhanced the role of annual statewide assessments as a means of determining student progress. Growth models and other measures of student learning are increasingly a part of education policy discussions. Ensuring that assessments are valid and reliable is a chief concern for both educators and policymakers. Developing and utilizing assessments for students in special populations is a unique challenge and the subject of much debate.
Washington Partners, LLC works with a variety of clients who are interested in valid assessments in specific curriculum areas and with specific student populations - such as English language learners and students with disabilities. WPLLC assists clients in articulating and sharing their message so that it is meaningful to policy-makers. WPLLC participates in numerous national coalitions which share concerns about ensuring appropriate assessment for student learning.
