Assistive Technology
While technology makes activities more convenient for people without disabilities, it makes certain activities possible for people with disabilities. Technology can enable a person without a voice to speak; an individual who can not walk to be mobile; and a person who is blind to access print materials. The field of assistive technology encompasses devices as simple as large button telephones and as complex and advanced as eye tracking computer equipment. Over the last 15 years, technological developments, including increased reliance on the Internet and e-technology, have opened many doors for people with disabilities.
Washington Partners, LLC works with clients to educate policy-makers about the significance and the impact of assistive technology on the lives of people with disabilities. WPLLC assists clients in interacting with multiple federal agencies, congressional committees and regulatory entities to develop policy related to assistive technology. Participating in national disability and technology coalitions enables WPLLC to promote the client's goals and raise the visibility and awareness of assistive technology.
